Canberra Vikings to host Queensland Country in NRC Grand Final

The Canberra Vikings will host a blockbuster National Rugby Championship on Saturday night when they take on Queensland Country at Viking Park.

The Vikings are looking for a maiden NRC title and will be desperate to secure it against a game Country side who led the competition most of the season before faltering in the last round to finish second.

The last round loss meant that the Vikings secured the minor premiership for the first time in the club’s history as well as home field advantage throughout the finals.

The Canberra side secured a home Grand Final last Saturday with a nail biting 40-35 victory over a game Perth Spirit side at Viking Park, three second half tries securing the victory.Queensland Country secured their spot in the final with a comprehensive 57-21 victory over the Fijian Drua at Clive Berghofer Stadium in Toowoomba.

Both sides will feature a number of Super Rugby players, the Vikings will call upon Brumbies stars such as Wharenui Hawera, Tom Banks, Tom Cusack and a host of others.

In welcome news for Rugby fans everywhere entry to Saturday night’s Grand Final blockbuster will be free, a great incentive for people to get to the game.

The NRC Grand Final between the Canberra Vikings and Queensland Country will kick off at 7:30pm at Viking Park on Saturday night.
