Peter Hewat

Biography

Assistant Coach (Backs) Peter Hewat was at the forefront of the Brumbies fast-paced attacking game-plan that bore fruit at the tail-end of the 2018 Super Rugby season as the team finished the year in fine form.

An exponent of the game as a rangy full-back, with an excellent kicking game, Hewat enters his second season as Assistant Coach at the club having settled into the role nicely throughout the 2018 campaign.

As a player Hewat appeared 32 times for Japanese giants Suntory Sungoliath, registering 135 points for the Asian powerhouse before switching to a coaching role, a position he held for five seasons before crossing to Canberra.

Hewat was previously a record-breaking member of the Waratahs setting a standard for most tries and points in a season for the Sydneysiders in his debut year of 2005.

Hewat was also a mainstay at London Irish, holding the record for kicking the fastest drop-goal in Avia Premiership Final history, landed after just 22 seconds, a 35m effort against Leicester Tigers at Twickenham in 2009.
