The Flying Fijian returns to the Brumbies for another season in 2019, having spurned offers abroad to stay in the Capital. Henry Speight had a landmark year in 2018. With seven tries, 15 line-breaks (6th overall in Super Rugby) and 45 tackle busts, Speight was at his usual best with ball in hand for the Brumbies.
He also reached a personal milestone in becoming the first Fijian-born player to reach 100 Super Rugby caps, an inspiration to Brumbies teammates and fellow-Fijians around the rugby community. Though included in the Wallabies training squad, game-time in gold was limited for Speight.
An opportunity to go on-loan to Ulster in Ireland presented itself and the Brumbies third all-time top try-scorer accepted it with both arms. A chance to get a fresh perspective with a new team, Speight will be back with the Brumbies in time for preseason, fresh and ready to push for a Super Rugby Championship.
