Australian Rugby Union has announced an exclusive Juniors/Schools Family offer for the Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series Test between the Qantas Wallabies and Fiji at Canberra Stadium on 5 June with silver category tickets for both adults and children available at a one-off price of just $15. The discount offer is seen as an investment in the game’s grassroots and represents a significant saving on the standard price of silver category seats where adult tickets will go on general sale at $45 and children’s tickets at $23. The price-busting special is aimed at families with children involved in Rugby and has been designed as a reward for their support to the game. The offer will be launched next month and available only for a limited time while also subject to ticket availability. Tickets to the Qantas Wallabies’ opening international for 2010 will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 11. Under the Juniors/Schools Family offer, any player, administrator, coach or referee actively involved with the game at a School or Junior club will be entitled to purchase for themselves, family and friends. The major condition attached to the offer is that for each adult ticket purchased a child’s ticket must also be purchased. However, a purchaser is permitted to buy a larger number of children’s tickets than adult tickets. The offer will be available online at www.rugby.com.au and details regarding the Juniors/Schools Family discounts can be found at www.rugby.com.au/ticketoffer. “We want to give those families who are, or want to be involved with our game at the Juniors and Schools level, a chance to attend the Canberra Test at an exceptionally affordable level,” said ARU Managing Director and CEO John O’Neill. “The ticket offer is open to all those who will be taking part in 2010, even those signing up for the first time as our club registrations open for the coming season. “This is a chance for mums and dads to take the kids to a Test and to do so by purchasing adult tickets at children’s prices. “This match at Canberra Stadium will be the first time the Wallabies have played Tests in the national capital in consecutive seasons. “Last year they took on Italy in the first Test played in Canberra for nine years. “We are delighted to be heading back there again, and this time with the flamboyance of the Fijians to showcase. “Anyone under-estimating the Pacific Islanders will do so at their peril. “Fiji reached the last eight of the 2007 Rugby World Cup and gave the eventual champions South Africa a scare in their quarter final showdown.” Platinum tickets – the best seats in the house – will cost $69 for the Fijian Test, with gold category tickets at $59 and silver tickets at $45 for adults and $23 for children. A family package in silver (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) will be available at $90. Bronze tickets (standing room only) at $35 for adults, $18 for children and $70 for a family package, will only go on sale if all seated tickets are sold. The Juniors/Schools Family offer will be rolled out across the country and is in place for all seven domestic Tests to be played in 2010. In a significant change from previous years, ARU will also be staggering the on sale dates for Test tickets this year. The four June Tests – starting with Fiji, followed by a two-match series with England and a one-off game with Ireland – will go on sale to the general public on 11 May. However, tickets for the three Bundaberg Rum Tri Nations matches to be played in Australia (two against the All Blacks and one against the Springboks) will go on general sale the following month on Tuesday, 29 June.
