After years of running close to top gear, Scott Fardy blew the cogs out of his transmission in 2012 claiming 16 Super Rugby caps in what was his most rewarding season to date.
A hard grafter with an admirable work ethic, Fardy has had half starts with the Waratahs and Western Force Academy systems but couldn’t break into either club’s game day 22.
Moving to Japan with the Kamaishi Seawaves in 2009 proved a masterstroke for Fardy as he regrouped and consolidated on the quality features of his game to return to Australian rugby fields a better player.
A last chance EPS contract at the Brumbies saw Fardy handed a final role of the dice in 2012, with the bearded bushranger from the beaches providing the ACT based side with a tireless work horse.
Fardy regularly led the Brumbies tackle counts and carries while providing valuable options in the line-out and in the second row. A genuine lock, Fardy started several games at blind-side flanker in 2012 providing versatility and power to an already formidable forward pack.
The 2008 Ken Catchpole Medallist has cemented himself as one of Warringah’s favourite sons, playing 300 games for the Newport Dolphins as a junior before working his way through the Rats colts program and into their first grade side.
Now representing the Western District Lions, Fardy is joined by fellow former Rat, Pat McCabe in the Maroon and Sky Blue at Jamison Oval.
