After drawing comparisons to Lote Tuqiri in 2012, Tevita Kuridrani will be looking to capitalise on his size and strength to stamp authority over the Brumbies outside backs in 2013.
From the first glimpses Brumbies fans were treated to of Kuridrani during the trial game against the Force in Darwin, the Fijian native has not failed to live up to his hype, cutting through defensive lines and causing wingers and fullbacks headaches whenever he’s involved with play.
Kuridrani’s extra-long legs allow him to glide past would-be defenders while a deadly fend and subtle left-foot step are enough to keep the best of defenders second guessing.
After representing Fiji at Under 20’s level in 2010, Kuridrai switched his allegiances to his adopted country of Australia. He made his Australian Sevens debut in Dubai later in 2010, travelling the globe with the shortened version’s rep team until the end of 2011.
Kuridrani’s efforts at Sevens were also noticed by 15-man selectors as he was offered a spot in the Reds Academy and the Australian Under 20’s to keep him occupied through to end of 2011. Kuridrani attended the Brumbies Talent Identification Camps in Narrabeen last year where Jake White offered his a two-year deal.
