GRAND FINAL RESULTS
Congratulations to the Queanbeyan Whites who have successfully defended their 2012 Premiership to take out this year’s title with a comprehensive 53-29 over a gallant Uni-Norths side.
In a match where both teams went toe to toe, Queanbeyan’s backline execution proved to be the major difference in the end. Both teams forwards were evenly match and battled for the whole match trying to get their team on the front foot.
Kristy Giteau was named player of the match thanks largely to her outstanding effort in scoring 6 tries, an amazing feat by any player’s standards.
Queanbeyan, 2013 Minor Premiers route to the Grand Final wasn’t as easy as it could have been, having stumbled in the final minutes of the Major Semi Final to go down to Uni-Norths 27-25. However, Queanbeyan responding well by thrashing Royals in the Preliminary final 55-12 to send a clear message they meant business.
ACT & SNSW Rugby Union would like to thank and congratulate all clubs that participated in the 2013 season and is looking forward to the 2014 season.
Preliminary Final: Queanbeyan (1) 55 defeated Royals(3) 12
Major Semi Final: Uni-Norths(2) 27 defeated Queanbeyan(1) 25
Minor Semi Final: Royals(4) 41 defeated Jindabyne(3) 28
The 2013 Women's Competition will take a different structure to recent years, with only 4 teams in the competition - Uni-Norths, Royals, Queanbeyan and Jindabyne. There will be 4 Pre Season 7's tournaments being held fortnightly folllowed by a 10 Round Competition.
Good luck to all clubs.
